A local-first study companion

Studying is hard enough. Finding your next step should not be.

StudyLoop pairs a focused browser workspace with an AI mentor. It helps you begin, think out loud, practise, and return later without rebuilding the whole plan in your head.

  • Free and open source
  • Your study data stays local by default
  • Designed with neurodivergent learners

Choose by need, not by feature

What would make studying easier right now?

01

I want to understand something

Start a Study Session and work it out with a mentor, one question at a time.

See Study Session
02

I need help getting started

Use Body Double for a calm timer, one concrete task, and quiet company.

03

I cannot choose what to do next

Let Today suggest one useful action from your energy, time, and recent work.

Support without shame

Built around how study actually goes.

Energy changes. Attention wanders. Sometimes the useful outcome is a clear stopping point. StudyLoop treats those as design constraints rather than failures.

01

Start smaller

Turn a broad intention into one topic or one concrete action.

02

Think, do, explain

A mentor asks questions and looks for evidence—not passive agreement.

03

Park the tangent

Keep a useful thought without letting it take over the current session.

04

Leave a return point

End deliberately so tomorrow does not begin with reconstruction.

Early and honest

StudyLoop is useful today, with clear boundaries.

Installation is from source. A little terminal help is still needed; there is no PyPI or Homebrew release yet.

The Web UI needs its local server. It supports laptop and tablet use and is not an offline app.

Plans are intentionally simple. The current Web UI form is manual; an agent-led planning interview is not integrated there yet.

Second-brain work is in progress. Obsidian export exists now; broader Obsidian and optional xTiles projections are planned, not shipped.
